For those who just did the AJC Prelim 2014 AQ on how education is responsible for young people today understanding that the less fortunate bunch do not enjoy the same benefits as they do, recall how I was trying to convey to you that in today's meritocratic Singapore, those students who are in top schools and who tend to do well academically tend to be from families who are NOT POOR. The article in the above link gives you clearer picture of this....
Without the recent reforms in the education sector, Singapore's top schools are in danger of developing into closed circles where poor students are kept out......i.e. no social mixing, which can affect social cohesion....
