Other than the attributes of a leader, note also how continuity of support and govt is a prerequisite for democracy to thrive. Herein lies one of the greatest criticisms of democracy -- there are often constant changes in the govt as they get elected in and out of office, with the consequence that long term projects for the nation cannot be seen through.....The exception of coz is Singapore.
